Google CEO doesn’t know when his AI will stop hallucinating

If you’re interested in artificial intelligence, you know that it is prone to hallucinations, meaning it can come up with “facts” that aren’t true. Google’s new AI Overviews feature is infamous for this. A few days ago, people were confused by his advice to put glue on pizza to make the cheese stick better, and that’s just one example. This isn’t the first time this has happened to Google’s AI, so users are wondering when the company will do something about it.

Not anytime soon, apparently, as the company’s CEO Sundar Pichai told The Verge that “hallucination is still an unsolved problem” and even an “inherent characteristic” in some ways.
