Firefighter hospitalized after responding to Ralston house fire

RALSTON, Neb. (WOWT) – An Omaha firefighter was expected to recover after an incident at the scene of a house fire Monday evening.

According to the Omaha Fire Department, crews were called to the area of ​​84th and L streets around 8:30 p.m.

Crews reported seeing heavy flames coming from the home when they arrived on scene.

When firefighters arrived, everyone in the house had already evacuated.

The fire was brought under control approximately 15 minutes after emergency services intervened.

While battling the flames, a firefighter was shocked by a power line that fell on a metal fence.

OFD said the firefighter was taken to the emergency room for evaluation.

The cause of the fire was not immediately released.

The OFD estimated the fire caused approximately $75,000 worth of damage to the home, as well as an additional $12,500 to the contents inside.
