NDOT announces ‘marathon work weekend’ leading to highway closures in East Las Vegas Valley

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — The Nevada Department of Transportation announced Tuesday that in an effort to complete intense work in a short period of time, it is holding a “marathon work weekend” resulting in closures across the East Valley from Las Vegas.

NDOT said the expanded restrictions allow the contractor to make critical pavement repairs on several sections of I-115/US 95 between Sunset Road and Flamingo Road.

The “marathon work weekend” will last from Friday May 31 at 9 p.m. to Monday June 3 at 5 a.m.

The affected motorway sections include:

• Northbound I-515 will be reduced to one lane between Sunset Road and the Galleria Drive overpass
• Sunset Road on-ramp to northbound I-515 will be closed
• Southbound I-515 will be reduced to one lane between Flamingo Road and Tropicana Avenue

The I-515 Sunset to Wyoming project, which began in March 2023, is on track to be “substantially completed” in August, NDOT said.
