Blues-rock duo The black keys have reacted to the cancellation of their North American arena tour.

The band returned earlier this year, sharing their raucous new album “Ohio Players.” At its output, CLASH wrote:

They are still undeniably the Black Keys. “Please Me (Till I’m Satisfied)” is a bluesy rocker with cacophonous drums from Carney, while “Fever Tree” is a riot, with Auerbach eschewing a chorus for some good old-fashioned “na-na-na” .

The band was scheduled to do a full North American tour this year, scheduled to play massive arenas. Earlier this week, the entire tour was canceled, with fans sharing screenshots that appeared to illustrate low ticket sales.

It’s an embarrassing situation, to be sure, as the Black Keys are now taking steps to “assure everyone that Dan and Patrick are alive and well.”

In a note on social media, the Black Keys insisted they would tour this year, but in more “intimate” spaces. The statement reads:

Following the recent run of shows across the UK and Europe, including stops at iconic venues like the Brixton Academy and the Zénith de Paris, we’ve decided to make some changes to the North American leg of the International Players Tour which will allow us to offer an equally exciting and intimate experience for fans and band, and will soon announce a series of revised dates.

Everyone who purchased tickets and/or VIPs for the original tour dates will be fully refunded – and when the new plans are announced, they will be the first to be able to purchase tickets.

Thank you for your understanding and apologies for this surprise change… We’re pretty sure everyone will be excited when you see what we have in mind, and we can’t wait to see everyone soon.
