When you first send a child to camp, you ask yourself: what type and how many tags do I need?

Here are BCP tips: Most of us don’t use iron-ons anymore (Leah still loves them for socks and other items that don’t have a label). We love Stick n’ Wear labels for most items. Simply stick them on the care labels and voila!

For the most part, we find that Stick n’ Wear labels stay in place well enough for most items, even when they are not on a care label as directed.

For items like socks and underwear that do not have a label, we prefer a stamp (note that some children do not want their name on the underwear. Would you like someone give you back a pair of lost underwear?).

The stamp is also ideal for boys’ undershirts.

We usually like to have a family stamp to keep things simple – especially when you might be passing something down, but these cute stamps are much more fun when they’re personalized. They also work well if you have children of similar size to distinguish their things at home. We also think kids would love them for school supplies.

Waterproof labels are ideal for all “stuff” including cameras and water shoes. We like to stick them under the top of the Crocs/Natives/Floafers and they stay put.

How much will you need? Many camp items are reused from year to year, so returning campers won’t need as many labels because many of their belongings will be labeled from the previous year – towels, caddies, flashlights, etc. Here is what we recommend:

First-time camper:
1 stamp
120 Stick n’ Wear
2 sheets of assorted waterproof labels
100 Iron-On, optional if you wish (this is the minimum)

Motorhome return:
90 Stick n’ Wear
1 sheet of mini waterproof labels
With optional stamp add-on if they don’t already have one.
