The University of the Arts abruptly announces its closure; Roots Picnic returns to Philadelphia

Philadelphia once again hosts the Roots Picnic with this year’s headliners Jill Scott and Andre 3000. Meanwhile, UArts students and parents prepare for a public meeting after the university suddenly announced its closure due to budget deficits. UArts is the second Philadelphia art school to announce it will close in 2024 after PAFA also announced it will close at the end of the 2024-25 academic year.
