The room where Jesus celebrated “The Last Supper,” a Christian pilgrimage site in Jerusalem, has been digitally recreated by Israeli archaeologists, who used laser scanning and advanced photography.

The Cenacle, as the place is called, has ancestral surfaces and poor lighting, which once made studying the place difficult.

“We have managed to use this technology in one of the most sacred places in Jerusalem, and it is wonderful. “We managed to penetrate the ancient stones, reach every corner of the building, we managed to create 3D models of this wonderful and sacred place,” said Amit Re’em, an archaeologist at the Israel Antiquities Authority.

“We managed to understand the different phases of the building, to answer who built it and when. But above all, thanks to this advanced technology, the stones began to speak to us,” Re’em added.

Some archaeologists have questioned in the past whether the hall was the treasured place where the Last Supper was celebrated, which, according to the New Testament, was the last moment Jesus shared a table with his disciples before his crucifixion.
