Bobby Shmurda Slams Streaming Platforms, Asks Fans to “Stop Asking Me to Release New Music”

Nearly two years after dropping his first post-prison project, Bobby Shmurda isn’t shy about letting his fans know what he thinks about the state of the music industry.

It’s already been more than three years since Shmurda was released from prison after serving more than six years for gang conspiracy charges. A few months after returning home in February 2021, Bobby dropped out Bodboya nine-track EP that marked the Brooklyn rapper’s first project since his breakthrough in 2014 Shmurda, she wrote.

Bodboy also served as an appetizer for Shmurda’s long-awaited debut album Ready to live. While it’s unclear if and when the LP will be released, the “Hot N***a” rapper has kept the momentum going by recently delivering a series of guest verses. The latest track, “On Something,” saw Shmurda team up with American entrepreneur Eli Taylor-Lemire for a song and accompanying visual.

Despite his ability to stay relevant, Shmurda doesn’t seem encouraged about his future in the rap game. On Sunday, the 29-year-old took to Twitter to urge his fans and critics to “stop asking him” when he plans to release new material.

“Stop asking me to give up music,” Bobby wrote. “US DSPs don’t allow real Bodman on playlists because I don’t paint my fingers, so there’s no point until something is done with the people who own, run and manage these platforms .
