Kylian Mbappé received a message from his idol, Cristiano Ronaldo, after announcing his transfer to Real Madrid.

The French star was confirmed as a new signing on Monday evening, arriving on a free transfer and signing a five-year contract at the Santiago Bernabeu.

While speculation about a transfer has been swirling for months and months, Mbappé’s dream of joining Real Madrid dates back to his childhood.

Announcing the move on his social media, Mbappe shared a series of photos of himself as a child wearing Real Madrid merchandise and visiting the Bernabeu.

He also shared a photo of himself alongside Ronaldowho played for the club for nine years between 2009 and 2018.

Around that time, Mbappe watched the Portuguese superstar score 450 goals for the Spanish giants, something Ronaldo said he would do after the French star arrived at the club.

“My turn to (watch),” Ronaldo commented on Instagram.

“Glad to see you lighting up the Bernabeu,” with a soccer ball emoji and a strong arm.

In a statement regarding his transfer, Mbappé said: “A dream come true.

“I’m so happy and proud to join my dream club @realmadrid.
