As controversial British politician Nigel Farage confirmed he would run for MP, a car crash interview from 2021 has started to circulate.

The former UKIP leader and Brexiteer made a shocking U-turn from his general election stance on Monday by announcing his return to lead Britain’s Reform Party for the next five years, a role he previously left in 2021 and has been occupied by Richard Tice until now.

He will fight for his seat in Clacton, Essex – which currently has a Conservative majority of 24,702 votes – in his eighth attempt to become an MP as he begins his election campaign.

The controversial public figure, who was previously accused of spreading “pure Islamophobia” and using “racially homophobic” slurs, has now been ridiculed for his poor Irish political record after being forced to apologize for accidentally supporting the IRA (Irish Republican Army). ).

A resurfaced viral clip shows an interview between Nigel, 60, and Irish presenter Claire Byrne, of RTE, and was captioned: “Farage is well-shod by a lovely Irish journalist.” Let’s do the same thing here.

During the withdrawal, Farage was discussing Irish nationalists’ “500-year fight for independence” while criticizing the nation’s continued relationship with the EU when Byrne reminded him of an infamous birthday message he had delivered on the Cameo paid service.

“People will be entertained to hear you, Nigel, talking about this,” she remarked before showing viewers the clip of the birthday message to a man named Brian Ó Céileachair.

The first, I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! The contestant loudly shouted “up to the RA” while holding a cup of coffee.

The presenter continued: “Look, I know you’ve apologized for the birthday wishes you’ve said over the last few days.

“I want people to see how much you know about the history and culture of this island.”

At the time, Nigel told MailOnline: ‘If I had seen ‘the RA’ I would have regarded it as something very innocent, and I wouldn’t have even known there was any involvement there -inside.”

He then categorically refuted that he would ever knowingly support the IRA.

What does “Up the RA” mean?

“Up the RA” was a popular chant used in support of the IRA and was quickly popularized as a cultural slogan in 1989 after its inclusion in the Wolfe Tones’ viral hit Celtic Symphony.

In 2022, the phrase, associated with the Troubles-era IRA, caused controversy after the Irish women’s football team played and sang the well-known anthem in their dressing room.

Head of football Vera Pauw publicly apologized after the clip was released, saying “we are really sorry because there is no excuse for hurting people.” There was no need,” according to the Irish Times.

The chant is often used alongside other republican slogans such as “Tiocfaidh ár lá” and “Brits out”.

Now people on social media are lambasting Nigel for his missteps and praising the presenter as they consider his upcoming media appearances as he heads to Clacton headquarters.

“So sad that a few more presenters, this side of the water, won’t stop him from bullying and shouting throughout an interview. You would almost think they feared him. Well done this woman. Here’s how to stop it,” wrote @spanglish51.

“This is exactly what every journalist should do. Call this fucking clown instead of just sitting back and letting him spout all his made up bullshit,” added @mikesglove.

“Well…we could do more here!” » @kateycon agreed.

Farage has already made mistakes during his recent media tour.

Before announcing that he would indeed stand for election, he appeared on Question Time at the end of May.

BBC presenter Fiona Bruce asked him why he came on the show. He replied: “Don’t ask me, you invited me to the show.”

Bruce, 60, then responded bluntly: “We actually asked Lee Anderson but he wasn’t available to come.”

Anderson is a former member of the Conservative Party and defected to Reform UK in 2024.

Viewers at home were delighted to see Bruce essentially telling the politician that he was second choice for the gig.
