‘I don’t know if I’m ready’: Shay Mitchell reveals if she’ll watch Pretty Little Liars again

Shay Mitchell is known for her role as Emily Fields on the hit series Pretty Little Liars which aired from 2010 to 2017. However, she is in no rush to see her again anytime soon. Mitchell, who is the mother of two daughters, Atlas, 4, and Rome, 2, recently opened up in an interview about whether she would allow her daughters to watch the show as they grow up.

For the unversed, Pretty Little Liars featured a cast including Mitchell, Troian Bellisario, Ashley Benson, Lucy Hale, Sasha Pieterse and Ian Harding.

Star of popular teen drama Pretty Little Liars, Shay Mitchell, recently said that she is in no rush to rewatch the series. During her June 6 appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show, the 37-year-old actress opened up about her thoughts on returning to watch the drama, which was filmed at the Warner Bros. studio. Mitchell spoke about her reservations about watching it with her young daughters as well.

Mitchell explained, “He (Matte) said, ‘The day Atlas is old enough, we’re going to watch him again.'” However, she added that she isn’t rewatching the show on her own, saying, “My eyebrows are very few shots all season, I don’t know if I’m ready.

Although Mitchell was reluctant to revisit Pretty Little Liars, she had fond memories of her time there. “It was truly an incredible experience and I only have good memories from this shoot,” she confessed.

Speaking about her current viewing choices, Mitchell added that there are so many amazing shows coming out, so she tries to stay up to date with what’s new that’s coming out. The actress said: “I try to watch a bunch of documentaries. I also try to read a lot more, so it’s all that balance.”

While acknowledging that she might rewatch a few episodes in the future, she wrote that it was a lot, it was seven seasons. She said: “There are a lot of shows there, but maybe one day.”

In an interview with Byrdie in December 2023, Mitchell reflected on his early career and experiences working on Pretty Little Liars. She recalled the nervousness she felt when she first landed the role of Emily, admitting: “When I booked the show, I knew I didn’t have as many experience as an actress than the other girls. Part of me was scared, but I knew I’d figure it out eventually. Did I think my performance was Oscar-winning? and I did the best (working on the show) I could in any acting class.”

Mitchell’s career was greatly influenced by the series, which allowed her to work on films like You, Dollface and Velma. However, she struggled to move past her character Emily from Pretty Little Liars.
