Austria, European champion, ready to take on the world

As Austria takes to the world stage in a fourth IFAF World Junior Championship, head coach Roman Floredo will lead his country’s junior team for the final time in Edmonton, leaving behind a legacy of success.

When Floredo took over from Chris Calaycay in 2017, Austria had won three consecutive European championship titles, establishing themselves as the dominant team on the continent since 2011. Floredo simply kept winning, claiming three more European crowns in 2019, 2022 and 2023, and will leave the bar once he challenges the world in Canada.

Austria will begin the 2024 tournament in the opening match at Clarke Stadium in Edmonton, Alberta, with a clash against Canada 2 on Saturday, June 22 at 11 a.m. Canada or Brazil will wait until Wednesday June 26 to decide the order of medals. or placement matches which will be played on Sunday June 30.
