Shatrughan Sinha breaks silence on Sonakshi Sinha’s marriage to Zaheer Iqbal

Shatrughan Sinha has finally broken his silence on his actor-daughter Sonakshi Sinha’s marriage to her boyfriend and actor Zaheer Iqbal. In an interview with Zoom, Shatrughan Sinha claimed that he did not tell anyone about his daughter’s marriage plans. He also added that he and his wife would give them blessings whenever the couple informed them about the marriage. Earlier, we reported that the couple will get married in Mumbai on June 23.

Talking about Sonakshi and Zaheer’s marriage, Shatrugan had almost no idea about it. He said, “I am in Delhi right now. After the election results, I came here by flight. I have not told anyone about my daughter’s plans. So your question is: will she is going to get married? The answer is that she did. Main bhi utna hi jaanta ho jitna main media maine padha hai (I know as much as the media has told me). If and when she puts me at ease, my wife and I will give the couple my blessing. We always wish him happiness.”

The actor-politician also explained that his daughter has the right to make her own decisions. “We completely trust her judgment. She will never make an extra-constitutional or illegal decision. As a consenting adult, she has the right to make her own decisions,” he added.

He then went on to say, “Having said that, I would like to say that whenever my daughter gets married, I would like to dance right in front of the baaraat.”

Shatrughan Sinha also reiterated that he was waiting to hear about the marriage. “People close to me ask me why I don’t know about it and the media knows about it. All I can say is: aaj kal ke bachche consent nahin lete maap-baap ke, sirf informs karte hain (nowadays children don’t ask permission from parents, they just inform). We are waiting to be informed,” he said.

According to a report by IndiaToday.in, invitations were sent to close friends and family members. Additionally, the entire cast of ‘Heeramandi’ was also invited.

The wedding invitation is designed like a magazine cover and the text says: “the rumors are true.”

Also, Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal’s wedding celebrations will take place at Bastian in Mumbai.

On the work front, Sonakshi was last seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s web series, ‘Heeramandi’. The show is currently streaming on Netflix.
