Coronation Street reeling from schedule shake-up as soap canceled this week for football

CORONATION Street viewers are set to see their soap series disrupted due to a schedule shake-up.

The popular program is usually broadcast every Monday, Wednesday and Friday on ITV1 and ITVX.

However, fans will have a very different experience this week as Corrie won’t be on their screens.

ITV canceled Friday’s episode in favor of a soccer fixation, Germany against Scotland at UEFA Euro 2024.

Coverage is set to air from 6.30pm to 10.45pm on ITV1, with kick-off taking place at 8pm.

Meanwhile, Coronation Street viewers recently learned of lawyer Joel Deering’s (Calum Lill) involvement in Lauren Bolton’s plight.

A flashback revealed that Joel had brutally attacked missing teenager Lauren in her apartment.

Lauren disappeared in February while police suspected his former employer Roy Cropper (David Neilson) of being involved.

Roy’s family and friends remained convinced of his innocence.

The owner of the beloved cafe was arrested and charged with Lauren’s alleged murder, but has since been released.

The vile groomer Nathan Curtis, who himself was recently released from prisonhas now been put into the context of what happened to Lauren.

In 2017, Nathan was jailed for grooming and manipulating vulnerable teenager Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon).

He tricked Bethany into believing they were in a romantic relationship, while selling her out to his friends and associates.

Viewers know that Bethany’s mother, Sarah (Tina O’Brien) and Detective Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) have a role to play in the suspicion against Nathan.

Bernie Winter’s (Jane Hazlegrove) long-lost son Kit surprised Sarah about to plant evidence in Nathan’s van.

A flashback scene revealed that Kit had taken out a hair of the bag that he had taken from Sarah and which he had planted himself.

After the hair was discovered, along with other accumulated evidence, Nathan was charged with Lauren’s murder.
