Bangor Prepares to Party ‘Under The Umbrella Sky’ for 2nd Year

Late last June, the Bangor City Council approved an art installation featuring umbrellas that would hang in a section of downtown between Main Street and Colombia Street.

At the beginning of July 2023, the “Umbrella Sky” exhibition was mounted. Part of a larger global exhibition featuring similar pieces in countries including Bahrain, Portugal and France, the Bangor exhibition added a bit of whimsy to the region.

This is why the sponsors of the exhibition wanted to celebrate the installation of the umbrellas and organized an “Umbrella Sky Launch Party” at the end of July 2023.

The umbrellas were taken down for the winter, but brought back at the end of May, along with some cool new extras.

The organizers are once again throwing a big party to celebrate and are inviting the public to join in the fun.

According to the Night Under The Umbrella Sky Facebook event page, the event is sponsored by Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center, the Bangor Area Chamber of Commerce and Downtown Bangor.

With a number of local vendors expected to provide food and music, those planning the event hope people will come out and take the opportunity to take a few photos under the brightly colored umbrellas while having fun in a part of downtown where they might not normally have been. has.
