US Open: Best PGA TOUR golf bets, predictions and odds at DraftKings Sportsbook

The PGA TOUR heads to North Carolina this week for the 124th edition of the United States Open. The Pinehurst Resort and Country club’s No. 2 course will host and measure a 7,543-yard par 70 with Bermuda grass greens.

The course is one of the best we will see all season, with many top 100 golfers in the world ready to tee off.

Below I’ve outlined my two favorite bets of the week.

Scottie Scheffler and he’s been playing lately. The Cal product has been in fine form since April, posting top-four finishes at the Masters, PGA Championship, Charles Schwab Challenge and Memorial. He also finished ninth at Harbor Town for good measure.

Morikawa came so close to toppling Scheffler last week at Muirfield Village, finishing second and just one stroke away. However, he played as well as you could play without winning, winning 8.2 ball strokes and 3.7 putts.

The other encouraging part of this stretch for Morikawa has been his stellar play around the green, where he has averaged 0.60 strokes per round ATG over his last 24 matches, ranking him third in that area. Combine that with his precise iron play and elite driving precision and you have a guy ready to win a US Open.

Morikawa is certainly no stranger to major championships, having already won two at just 27 years old. He’s still raising his base on golf’s biggest stages, and he’s currently as locked in as any golfer on the planet. If Scheffler falters anything this week, there’s a good chance Morikawa completes the third leg of the career grand slam.

Very quietly, Im completely turned his season around. He struggled for most of the year, but then something clicked at the RBC Heritage. Since Harbor Town, Im has posted four top 12s in five starts, including a T4 at Quail Hollow, a T9 at Colonial and a T8 last week at Memorial.

During this stretch, the South Korean ranks 15th on the court in total strokes gained and has struck and driven the ball magnificently. Im has won shots off the tee in each of his last five starts – including even his missed cut at the PGA Championship.

He will now return to an area of the country where he has enjoyed much success during his career. I mentioned above how strong it was at Quail Hollow this year, but in addition it also performed well on other tough Bermuda tracks in the Southeast. I won the Honda Classic in 2020 and have multiple top-five finishes at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, as well as THE PLAYERS Championship, Valspar Championship, and Wyndham Championship. The latter is not a particularly difficult test, but it is played at Sedgefield Country Club in North Carolina and features Bermuda greens.

I also finished T2 at the Masters, so we’ve already seen his ceiling in major championships. It will be a daunting task for me to try and defeat all the giants at the top of the table, but at 75/1 it’s a gamble worth taking.
