Luxury on the road: This adventure-ready camper has an exquisite, feature-rich interior

Building a campervan yourself is too complicated for some adventurers. This is completely understandable since it is a difficult and time-consuming process. If you have the money, one option in this case is to outsource the process to a conversion company.

If you opt for a professional retraining, you will almost certainly obtain a quality mobile home, provided you choose a good company. There are countless companies offering this type of service. One of them is Camplife Customs.

Camplife Customs is a van building shop based in San Diego, California that specializes in creating high-end campers for, as it describes: “your van life, your travels or your business needs.”

It specializes in conversions based on the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, Ram ProMaster and Ford Transit platforms – essentially, the three most popular motorhome bases in the United States. I talked about each of these vehicles, along with three others, in an article I wrote about the most reliable vans suitable for campervan conversions.

Since we are talking about high-end motorhomes, you should naturally expect a high-end price. Camplife Customs prices range from $60,000 to over $200,000 (€55,855 to over €186,185), depending on components, aesthetics, upgrades, and more.

Like other companies, Camlife Customs offers different forms of customization. Its most high-end model is the “After”, which is available on the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 144″ or 170″ all-wheel drive platforms.

The custom build I’m talking about today is based on an all-wheel-drive Sprinter with a 144″ wheelbase. It’s part of the Apres premiere range and sports a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder diesel engine paired with an automatic transmission nine-speed. As usual, I will start the van tour with its exterior.

Like all other Apres vans, this unit is finished in Mercedes-Benz Graphite Gray. The lower black trim panels are wrapped for added protection. Additionally, it rides on Black Rhino rims wrapped in Yokohama tires.

Since it’s all-wheel drive, this Sprinter van already has off-road capabilities. However, Camplife Customs has equipped the rig with a Vancompass 6.3 suspension kit to further enhance the capabilities of this rig.

Out back, you’ll notice an Owl Vans cargo rack holding a large cargo box, as well as an Owl Vans ladder/spare tire rack. Climb atop the vehicle and you’ll discover an Aluminess rack containing lights on all four sides and a Fiamma F45s canopy.

A nice touch is that the hood is wrapped in black, also providing an extra layer of protection against scratches. Underneath you’ll find a Baja front bumper with dual Baja Designs lights and a Warn winch rated at 9,800 lbs (4,445 kg).

And finally, Camplife Customs installed something you’ll often see on high-end Sprinter van conversions: side flares, one on each side. These components are designed to increase the interior width of the Sprinter, allowing you to mount the bed from side to side.

Things get even more interesting once you open the main door. A finely designed interior will welcome you. Additionally, Camplife Customs left an open layout for this rig, meaning the driver’s cabin is not separated from the rest of the interior.

Many elements come together to give the interior a premium look. The customer for this van opted for blue cabinets complemented by beautiful brass finishes. The aesthetic is complemented by numerous custom bamboo details, including a slatted ceiling with recessed LED strips and designer touches imitating white marble.

The most attractive part of this living space is the bathroom, which you will find just outside the entrance. Its walls, finished with massive tiles imitating marble, instantly catch the eye. The bathroom also includes a brass shower, a dry flush toilet mounted on a drawer slide to maximize available space and a self-cleaning Nautilus door.

This is no ordinary shower device. It comes with two shower heads, two different sprayers, a small monitor showing the water temperature, and a timer to know when you want your showers to be as quick as possible.

Next, we have the kitchen, which is located on the passenger side of the interior, blocking part of the entrance. It features a black sink with a brass faucet, a large Thinscape countertop with a drop-down extension and a wall-hung cabinet. The latter incorporates a touch controller for all interior lights, as well as a battery monitor and inverter controller.

On the other side, Camplife Customs installed a large North Pole refrigerator and lockers on the side. For additional storage, you can use four drawers and a cabinet under the sink. The cabinet contains a Fogatti water heater and controls an underfloor heating system. The water heater is connected to a small propane canister which, surprisingly, allows it to heat 60 gallons (227 liters) of water consecutively.

Since we’re on the subject of utilities, I’d like to mention that the water for this rig is supplied by two 22 gallon (83 liter) fresh water tanks: one inside the van and one mounted underneath , where the spare wheel is used. be.

This rig is ready for four-season expeditions with adequate insulation. For heating and air conditioning, this van is equipped with an Espar diesel heater with high altitude kit and a Dometic RTX-200 12 VA/C, as well as a Maxxair fan.

And the electrical system? Well, know that this camper is ready for off-grid adventures. The highlights of the electrical system are 800 Ah batteries, a 3000 W inverter, a DC-DC charger for charging the system via the vehicle’s alternator and a solar charge controller connected to 400 W solar panels on the roof. If you’re unfamiliar with electrical systems, know that this one provides enough power for stress-free off-grid adventures.

A dining area occupies the rear part of the interior of this motorhome. It consists of two long benches with a massive bamboo table between them, which matches the bamboo frames of the side flares.

If you want to accommodate guests, creating an extra bed is very simple. Simply lower the table that connects the two benches. Rearrange the cushions and you’ll be good to go.

What looks like the ceiling above the dinette area is actually the lower part of an elevator bed. The builders got creative and came up with a clever solution to maximize the sleeping space on the elevator bed.

The lift bed can only be as wide as the minimum interior width – in a van, the top will have the smallest width as the vehicle body curves towards the ceiling. So, Camplife Customs installed a tri-fold mattress that spans the width of an elevator bed, with its sides supported by the side flares. This arrangement creates as much space as possible for lounging or sleeping.

Overall, this tiny house on wheels has a ton of features, considering its compact living space. It can accommodate and sleep four people, taking you off the beaten path with ease and allowing you to venture out in comfort and style.

Of course, you pay a high price for this. But once you do that, you won’t have to worry about anything else, because this rig is built to last and has everything you need to start your journey as soon as you get your hands on it. above.
