Kwesi Pratt shocked by the military’s “love letter” to the Amenfi Est nuclear power station

Veteran journalist Kwesi Pratt Jnr has described a recent letter from the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) warning against attacks on soldiers as a “love letter”.

Speaking on Metro TV on June 12, Mr Pratt criticized the tone and direction of the letter, saying it distracted from the real target of the warning, New Party member Ernest Frimpong. Patriotic Party (NPP) in power.

Mr Frimpong, the NPP parliamentary candidate for Amenfi East constituency in the Western region, charged artisanal miners to attack any unauthorized security personnel obstructing their activities.

Following these comments, he was arrested.

The GAF statement warning of such attacks did not explicitly mention Mr Frimpong or his comments, which sparked widespread criticism on social media.

Mr Pratt called Frimpong’s comments “annoying”, stressing that the display of impunity is unforgivable.

“The worst thing is that he made this statement in the presence of the Western regional minister who partially confirmed it,” he added.
