Fort Worth mailman robbed, 0,000 reward offered for information

FORT WORTH, TXTwo men are wanted in connection with an attack on a mail carrier in a southwest Fort Worth neighborhood.

The mailman was delivering mail to a Fort Worth apartment complex Saturday morning around 10:40 a.m.

“Two black men approached him. They were both wearing dark colored clothing. They are described as being thin, approximately 5’11” tall, they were both wearing gloves and both were wearing masks,” said U.S. Postal Inspector Sean Smith.

A $150,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction in the Fort Worth case.

This happened, not just locally, but nationally, prompting the Postal Service to come up with something called Project Safe Delivery.

“We protect the mail system, we protect the carriers, we prevent by educating employees on what they should do when they encounter something like this, and then we enforce the laws that we are authorized to enforce,” Smith said . .

The inspectors’ work, which you don’t see, has led to arrests and convictions in other mail theft cases.

“We know that because of the Project Safe Delivery initiative, people are targeting that postal key and when they target it, that ultimately leads to mail theft, right? And so what we We’re trying to do is devalue that key with the electronic locks that we’re deploying in the field and the higher security collection boxes that we’re deploying in the field,” Smith said. 28,000 electronic locks nationwide. They are located here in the DFW area. We have installed more than 15,000 of them in high security collection boxes. These are located here in the DFW area.”

They’re also asking the public to help keep the men and women who deliver for you safe.

“These employees are just delivering mail to every neighborhood in America, so we’re focused on protecting these carriers, holding accountable those who are harming our carriers and putting them through a traumatic experience,” Smith said.
