New emergency room nears completion at former Holy Land site

ORLANDO, Florida. – AdventHealth marks the near completion of its brand new freestanding emergency room.

At a ribbon-cutting ceremony Thursday, AdventHealth executives gave the first tours of its nearly 19,000-square-foot Millenia ER.

The new facility was built on the former site of Orlando’s Holy Land Experience, which closed in 2021.

“I can’t imagine a better place than the Holy Land to offer healing, health and restoration,” said Orlando District 6 Commissioner Bakari Burns.

Kari Vargas, CEO of AdventHealth’s northwest market, said the addition will help the health system provide urgent care in a close-to-home environment.

“This is about ensuring that people receive the safest, highest quality care whether they are residents or visiting here in Central Florida,” Vargas said.

The emergency department has 24 private rooms for patients, including two child-friendly rooms to make visits less stressful for children.

Several services are also available, such as respiratory therapy, diagnostic imaging, CT, X-ray, and non-ultrasound.

“We’re able to really expedite care for patients and get them the care they need and deserve,” said Director of Emergency Medicine Dr. Nicholas McAlister. “I have immediate access to our laboratory. I have immediate access to the CT scan and we get these patients seen and put everything they need on them pretty quickly.

AdventHealth said its Millenia ER also fills a need in a growing area of Orlando, near the city’s tourist district.

“Our commitment is to continue to grow with the growing community we see thriving here in Central Florida,” Vargas said.

The opening date for AdventHealth Millenia ER is July 9.
