AFSCME Local 685 Accuses Probation Department of Unfair Labor Practices Over Deputies’ Field Reassignments

LOS ANGELES – The union representing Los Angeles County probation officers alerted its members this morning that unfair labor practice charges were filed against the department this week regarding the mandate that field officers be reassigned to the work in juvenile halls.

“AFSCME Local 685 filed suit against the Los Angeles County Probation Department for unilaterally implementing changes to the terms and conditions of employment of Local 685 members without negotiating with the union . This is a violation of our rights under the County Employee Relations Ordinance, and we demand that the County “cease and desist its mandatory involuntary reassignment and mandatory involuntary assignment to a domicile (forced and punitive assignment to a home)” and returns all members to their “current assignment.” and regular assignments as defined in the DPO II Field County Job Classification.
