We tested Shark Tank’s Drop Stop to find out if it’s worth it.

The Drop Stop comes with two bonuses: a gel pad that you can apparently stick to any flat surface in the car and which will prevent anything you place on it from falling to the ground, and a handy LED flashlight in form of credit card. . To be completely honest, I totally forgot I owned them and didn’t manage to try them on during the long drive. Not using them hasn’t diminished my impression of the Drop Stop, so I’ll consider these items a welcome perk that I may or may not need one day.

One issue that was raised was that the Drop Stop apparently couldn’t stay in place all the time, especially if you change drivers and adjust the driver’s seat. On another occasion, while driving to Walmart, I noticed that the Drop Stop on my side had been dislodged. According to the paper instructions included in the box, “In the rare event that the Drop Stop moves, stick a piece of double-sided tape between the front of the Drop Stop and the car seat, then tuck it into the gap. ” Considering the convenience that gap fillers in general provide by reducing cleaning, this was a small adjustment I was willing to make. Even without going the duct tape route, we just had to get into the habit of giving the Drop Stop a little tug and making sure it stayed in place no matter which of us was driving the vehicle.

Ultimately, I’m glad we purchased the Drop Stop. Since I bought it, I haven’t had to collect an embarrassing amount of gunk from under my or my husband’s car seat. This is definitely a game changer for sometimes messy families like mine.
