The Shoobies Shocked 9+ Sights and Sounds of South Jersey

When people think of New Jersey, they often imagine cityscapes, bustling cities like Newark or Atlantic City, and perhaps the beautiful beaches along the coastline. However, what many don’t realize is that New Jersey is also home to a surprisingly large amount of agricultural land.

First, the state’s proximity to major cities like New York and Philadelphia might suggest that it is an urban sprawl – a concrete jungle. In fact, New Jersey has more than 9,000 farms spread across more than 700,000 acres of agricultural land. This represents a significant portion of the total area of the state!

What is even more surprising is the diversity of agricultural products grown here. While New Jersey is famous for its tomatoes and blueberries, it is also a major producer of cranberries, peppers, peaches and even nursery and greenhouse products. They don’t call us “The Garden State” for nothing!

Shocking sights and sounds of New Jersey

There is a wide variety of land suitable for different types of agriculture. Places like Cumberland and Salem counties in South Jersey have farms almost everywhere you look. And while it may not be as vast as the countless corn and soybean fields of the Midwest, the density of New Jersey’s farms and proximity to major markets make it a vital part of the supply chain food from the region.

So, for someone living out of state (shoobies and bennies) who only associates New Jersey with its towns and beaches, discovering how beautiful the state is can indeed be a shock. It reminds us that even in the most unexpected places, there are often beautiful sights to see if you know where to look.

For most shoobies, they never expect to see what places like South Jersey are really like when they spend a day in this part of the Garden State.
