Nick Castellanos sent a vulgar message to the referee after a violation

Nick Castellanos speaks with a referee

Nick Castellanos was called for a shot clock violation on Wednesday night, and the Philadelphia Phillies veteran clearly felt it should have been avoided.

Castellanos came to the plate in the top of the 7th inning of the Phillies’ 8-6 loss to the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park in Boston, Massachusetts. He lost 0-1 in the count without even facing a pitch, like home plate umpire Derek Thomas called a violation when Castellanos didn’t enter the batter’s box quickly enough.

Castellanos then had a few words for Thomas. The outfielder seemed to believe that Thomas should have given a warning. Castellanos could be heard telling the referee, “out of respect for someone who’s been in the league for over 10 years, you need to speak up, bro.”

You can watch the video, but be careful, it contains an F-bomb:

MLB rules state that the batter must be inside the box with at least 8 seconds remaining on the pitch clock.

The pitch clock violation didn’t cost much, as Castellanos drew a walk. He was also fortunate that Thomas didn’t take offense at being torn apart, even though the audio of the entire exchange was unclear.

Castellanos is known for dropping an F-bomb every now and then, but the last time we heard from him was a lot funnier.
