NEET 2024 line: The Supreme Court has issued notices to private parties on a plea by the NTA seeking transfer of cases pending in various high courts of the NEET-UG dispute to the top court to avoid multiplicity of litigation. The vacation bench comprising Justices Vikram Nath and Sandeep Mehta took note of the NTA’s counsel that several pleas for cancellation of NEET are pending before several high courts. The case will be heard on July 8 after the Supreme Court begins functioning after the summer vacation.

The Supreme Court also sought a response from the NTA and focused on a plea seeking a CBI probe into allegations of question paper leakage and other irregularities in the examination. The vacation bench comprising Justices Vikram Nath and Sandeep Mehta sought responses from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Bihar government within two weeks of a PIL filed by Hiten Singh Kashyap. The PIL will be heard on July 8.

Earlier on June 13, the top court removed the scorecard of 1,563 students who had obtained grace marks from the NTA. Students will either have to reappear in NEET or accept the original marks. The NEET retest is scheduled to be conducted on June 23 and the result will be announced on June 30.

Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said the government would take action against those involved in creating irregularities in NEET. “I would like to assure students and their parents that the Government of India and the NTA are committed to providing justice to them. 24 lakh students have passed the NEET exam. There is no paper leak, no proof has been found yet,” Dharmendra Pradhan said.

Meanwhile, NEET UG counseling 2024 is scheduled to be held from July 6. Candidates can apply for MBBS and BDS boards on the official website – mcc.nic.in.
