Warren Beatty offered to send Eddie Redmayne money after falling victim to email scam

Eddie Redmayne has revealed he was once the victim of an email hacking scam that sent all his contacts asking for money and Warren Beatty was the only one to ask him for help.

“I was actually in New York at the time and had a big night out the night before,” he said in an episode of Late Night with Seth Meyers.

“And I woke up in New York, and I turned on my phone, and I listened to this voicemail. And I turned to my wife and said, ‘I think Warren Beatty just left me a voicemail to check on me and if I need some money.’

“I was kind of hungover and trying to make sense of this thing,” he added.

Beatty, 87, had reached out after receiving what Redmayne described as a “very convincing email saying I was stuck and needed” money.

“To Warren’s incredible and generous credit, he was just about the only person who was kind enough to help me get out of trouble,” said the Wretched said the star.

“But to this day, this man holds a big place in my heart.”

The story first came to light in February, when Jamie Dornan mentioned it on Josh Horowitz’s show. Happy Sad Confused podcast.
