New Delhi, June 14: Stepping up its attack on the government over the issue of NEET exams, the Congress on Friday questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “silence” on the issue and asserted that only a forensic probe supervised by the Supreme Court can ensure the future of thousands of young students. Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge alleged that the Modi government started “covering up the NEET scam” through Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and the National Testing Agency (NTA).

“If the diary was not disclosed in NEET, then why were 13 accused arrested in Bihar due to paper leak? The Economic Offenses Unit (EOU) of Patna Police did not Did she not reveal the payment of Rs 30 lakh to Rs 50 lakh to the mafia and organized gangs involved in the racket in exchange for papers? he said in a Hindi article on X. Future of 24 Lakh students hangs in the balance due to Narendra Modi govt’s actions, says Mallikarjun Kharge on NEET-UG exam controversy

“Has the NEET-UG cheating racket not been busted in Godhra, Gujarat? In which three people are involved including a person who runs a coaching center, a teacher and another person and according to police of Gujarat, transactions of over Rs 12 crore were recorded between the accused”” says Kharge, no documents were disclosed in NEET, then why were these arrests. been carried out, he asked.

“What conclusion to draw from this? Did the Modi government try to mislead the people of the country earlier or now? The Modi government has crushed the aspirations of 24 lakh youth,” Kharge said. Twenty-four lakh young people appear for the NEET exam to become doctors and are working hard day and night to secure one lakh medical seats, he said.

“Out of these 1 lakh seats, around 55,000 are in government colleges where seats are reserved for SC, ST, OBC and EWS categories. This time the Modi government has misused the NTA and massively rigged the marks and rankings, due to which the time limit for reserved seats has also increased,” the Congress leader asserted. It seems that a game of pardons, paper leaks and rigging was played to deprive deserving students of government admission at concessional rates, Kharge said. ‘Narendra Modi hasn’t even taken oath yet…’: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi blames govt for NEET exam scandal, vows to be students’ voice in Parliament

Addressing a press conference on the issue at the AICC headquarters here, Congress media and publicity department head Pawan Khera claimed that “NEET scam is Vyapam 2.0” and the government Modi wants to whitewash her. The Vyapam or Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board scam broke out in 2013, in which candidates had bribed officials and rigged exams by deploying impostors to write their answer sheets.

Pradhan’s brazen statement, terming the widespread protests, multiple court cases and huge student outrage as ‘motivated’, amounts to rubbing salt on the wounds of 24 lakh aspirants, whose future is being destroyed by the BJP , Khera said. Asking questions to Prime Minister Modi and Pradhan, Khera asked if it was not true that the Economic Offenses Unit (EOU) of Patna (Bihar) police, which is probing the NEET-UG paper leak 2024, had found that medical aspirants had paid huge sums ranging from Rs. 30 lakh to Rs 50 lakh each to the ‘brokers’ involved in the racket, to get access to the questions before the May 5 exam.

“Can the Education Minister deny that a NEET-UG cheating racket has been busted in Godhra, Gujarat, involving three people, including a person who runs a coaching center, a teacher and another, in which the investigation into the case revealed a transaction worth over Rs 12 crore between the students, their parents and the accused he said. 2024, 67 winners achieved a perfect score of 720, while in 2023 that number was only two, Khera said.

Is it not true that this year there was an abnormal increase in the number of students scoring above 690, he asked. “Is it not true that several NEET-UG 2024 candidates belong to the same state and have similar roll numbers? Did they come from the same exam centers?” he said. Is it not true that the NEET exam results were declared 10 days earlier, Khera further asked. “PM Modi cannot always remain a mute spectator. Why is he remaining silent when the future of 24 million youth is at stake?” he said.

Khera questioned why the Modi government and the NTA had “inflated” the marks compared to the ranks this year. “The complete result of last year and this year of students scoring 580 and above should be made public by the NTA if the Modi government claims that the entire examination process is transparent. The centers of the students scoring 580 and above should also be made public to see how many students have traveled far from home to take the NEET exam,” he said. Khera said the board scores should also be correlated with last year’s and this year’s NEET scores to see how well the data correlates.

“Videos of centers where high scores are located should be released so that this scam can be identified as OMR was filled after the exam or at NTA office or impersonation has happened so that the truth is coming out,” he said. Only a forensic investigation supervised by the Supreme Court is a solution to safeguard the future of thousands of young students, Khera asserted. The Center and the NTA on Thursday told the Supreme Court that they had canceled pardons granted to 1,563 candidates who had taken the entrance exam for MBBS and other such courses. They will have the possibility either to retake an exam or to waive the compensatory marks which were granted to them for wasting time, the Center indicated.
