Charging documents reveal how BPD arrested suspect wanted in connection with murders – Baltimore Sun

Baltimore police had been searching since early June for a man suspected of two murders and the theft of a car.

And on Monday, police said they arrested a suspect in Fallsway on Hillen Street near the Health Care for the Homeless building.

Investigators had released surveillance footage of the suspect, hoping to get the public’s help. They called him a person of interest in two murders and a nonfatal shooting that occurred June 2, within hours of each other.

One of those killings, police say, occurred shortly before 4 a.m. at the Exxon gas station on West Mulberry Street near North Greene Street, where a man was shot multiple times before be pronounced dead at the hospital.

James Warren, an Exxon security officer – who was not present when the shooting occurred – reacted Thursday to news of the suspect’s arrest.

“Every day during my shift, everything is under control. But like I said, if he’s caught, at least we don’t have to worry about this person being on the loose,” Warren said.

We now know more about how the police found the arrested person.

According to charging documents obtained by FOX45 News, just hours after the Exxon shooting, the suspect fatally shot a man on Pennsylvania Avenue near Preston Street. Investigators say video recovered from the rear of the building shows the suspect wearing a khaki-colored shirt and pants and black flip-flops.

According to charging documents, he was seen getting out of a red Lexus before confronting a man. Police say the suspect then shot the man and ran toward the red Lexus.

A short time later, police found the vehicle abandoned a few blocks away on Argyle Avenue, where police say they took fingerprints from the driver’s side of the vehicle.

As for the red Lexus, investigators say it was stolen in the earlier murder at the Exxon station – where police say the suspect is caught on surveillance video wearing the same clothes as those seen during the fatal shooting on Pennsylvania Avenue.

“I’m just happy to see that (the police) actually did their job,” Warren said.
