The Strand Theater presents: “Stop Making Sense”

VICKSBURG, Miss. – The Strand Theater will present Talking Heads’ monumental documentary “Stop Making Sense” this Saturday, June 15.

The filmmakers shot the documentary over four nights in December 1983 at the Pantages Theater in Hollywood while Talking Heads were on tour promoting their album “Speaking in Tongues.” “Stop Making Sense” includes performances of Talking Heads’ debut single “Psycho Killer” and their most recent hit at the time, “Burning Down the House”. It also features songs from frontman David Byrne’s solo career and Tom Tom Club, the side project of drummer Chris Frantz and bassist Tina Weymouth.

In 2021, the Library of Congress selected it for preservation in the United States National Film Registry as being “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant.”

The show will begin at 7:00 p.m. and tickets are $9.00 and are available in advance at Highway 61 Coffeehouse. For more information, call 601-529-7252.
