The Bowling Green football program recently revealed mockups of new uniforms for this season that are reminiscent of the look of the Falcons of the 1980s and 1990s.

The home orange, road white and alternate brown jerseys all feature single-color numbers, a contrast collar and a traditional striped pattern on the sleeves.

The graphics only show a white helmet, but the Falcons’ social media account confirmed in a later post that they will still have an orange cap in the upcoming rotation.

Both helmets will feature Bowling Green’s “Peekaboo” logo rather than the “LT” logo, variations of which the Falcons used from 1981 to 2006 and on special occasions since.

It’s unclear exactly what the pants will look like, as Bowling Green has not yet received the new uniforms from Nike. Presumably they will have more Brashier stripes like vintage yarns.

The Falcons also haven’t worn orange jerseys since their 2017 loss to rival Toledo, as they have only had maroon and white jerseys available since a 2019 redesign.

Interestingly, the Rockets revealed similar uniforms from the offseason, featuring full diagonal stripes on the sleeves. The only difference was the colors, wordmark and number font.

The new home uniforms will debut against FCS Fordham on August 29, while the road travels to Happy Valley when the Falcons take on Penn State on September 7.

One additional note for those who might think that Bowling Green’s new uniforms are simply copying those of the Cleveland Browns…it’s actually the other way around.

The Browns adopted the Falcons’ color scheme after running training camp in Bowling Green from their inaugural season in 1946 through the 1951 campaign.
