UFC Vegas 93 weigh-in results: 1 fighter seriously underweight, fight canceled

Tagir Ulanbekov made an incorrect statement on the scales.

In front of a roster full of flyweight competitors looking to impress, Ulanbekov was the only 125-pounder to miss the mark during Friday’s official morning weigh-ins for UFC Vegas 93. Ulanbekov weighed in at 129.5 pounds, 3.5 pounds at – above the limit (including the one pound allowance for non-title fights).

Shortly after the weigh-ins concluded, the UFC announced that Ulanbekov’s fight with Joshua Van had been canceled due to Ulanbekov’s failure.

Flyweight headliners Alex Perez and Tatsuro Taira – No. 12 and No. 13, respectively, in the MMA Fighting World Rankings – were the first fighters to weigh in and both managed to make weight without issue.

With the exception of Ulanbekov, all fighters competing at UFC APEX on Saturday made weight, including bantamweights Douglas Silva de Andrade (136) and Miles Johns (135), who were moved to forward -last fight of the evening after a late reshuffling of the cards. Ikram Aliskerov was originally scheduled to fight Antonio Trocoli in the co-main event, but Aliskerov was moved to next Saturday’s UFC Saudi Arabia main event to fight Robert Whittaker replacing Khamzat Chimaev.
