Nicholas County woman faces criminal charges after traffic stop in Fayette County

FAYETTE COUNTY, W.Va. (WVNS) — A woman from the Mount Nebo area of ​​Nicholas County is facing criminal charges after a traffic stop in Fayette County.

Cindy L. Chittum, 51, of Mount Nebo, was charged with the offense of operating/attempting to operate clandestine drug laboratories, possession of substances intended for use as precursors to the manufacture of methamphetamine or another controlled substance, as well as the offenses of not wearing a seat belt and driving with a suspended license.


On June 10, 2024, at approximately 3 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on a car for a minor traffic violation while on patrol in the Miller Ridge and Sunday Road areas of Fayette County.

Once in the car, officers found several loose pills in the passenger seat, as well as tubes and containers used for methamphetamine production at Chittum’s feet. Other items associated with the manufacture of narcotics were discovered when officers searched the car.

Chittum was arrested, charged and taken to the Southern Regional Jail to await further legal proceedings.

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office said all defendants are innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law, and that criminal complaints are just a document of criminal charges.
