Traffic stop leads to arrest of convicted felon on drug and gun possession

On June 12, at approximately 11:30 p.m., officers with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop after observing a vehicle equipment violation on US Highway 17 South near High Water Social at Chocowinity.

After stopping the vehicle, officers identified the driver as Anthony Osbourne Goff of Aurora. Deputies observed illegal contraband inside the vehicle while speaking with Goff. Deputies asked Goff to exit the vehicle while they conducted a probable cause search. Goff began actively resisting officers once outside the vehicle and was taken into custody.

As a result of evidence collected during the traffic stop, Anthony Osbourne Goff, 31, of Aurora, was charged with Felon Felon Possession of a Firearm, Felon Possession of Methamphetamine, Misdemeanor Resisting one delay of obstruction, misdemeanor possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance. , misdemeanor possession of marijuana paraphernalia, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia and misdemeanor carrying a concealed weapon. Goff received citations for possession of an open container in the passenger area of ​​a motor vehicle and vehicle lighting violation.

Osbourne was booked into the Beaufort County Detention Center under $8,000 secured bond.
