Thane: A 23-year-old man has been arrested for the brutal murder of a 15-year-old boy who was seen snorting a medicinal solution on a hill near Ambedkarpada in Mumbra. Police said the accused was identified as Faiz Malim. , resident of Kausa and deceased as Mehtab Mansuri, from Devripada area of Srilanka locality in Mumbra. Police said the minor boy went missing after going out and hence the parents registered a case of kidnapping at Mumbra police station as frantic searches proved futile. Mumbra police launched an investigation into the incident and during interrogation and based on CCTV camera footage, police zeroed in on the accused, said Subhash Burse, the commissioner police deputy (zone 1). The accused was initially arrested, but later confessed that he was the one who killed the boy. According to police, the incident took place when Mehtab encountered Faiz sniffing whitener on the hillock. Faiz told him that he would report it to his parents, but in a fit of anger, Faiz first choked Mehtab and then beat him to death with a stone. Police said they were investigating and produced the accused in court where the judge remanded him in custody.
