CONOR MCGREGOR has broken his silence following the postponement of his fight with Michael Chandler.

The MMA superstar was set to make his long-awaited return to the octagon on June 29 in the main event of UFC 303 in Las Vegas.

The Notorious chose Ronaldo to finish as the tournament’s top scorer.

But an undisclosed injury forced the Irishman to withdraw from his highly anticipated return to the cage, which is now expected to take place by the end of September.

Fight fans around the world have been patiently waiting for McGregor to talk about his first withdrawal from a UFC fight.

And they were disappointed when he took Twitter just a few hours later news of his injury broke out to reveal a big Euro 2024 bet on Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Notorious revealed he bet a whopping £50,745 on the five-time Ballon d’Or winner to finish as the tournament’s top scorer.

He wrote on X: “60 G to @Cristiano to keep his Euro Golden Shoe. Siuuu!”

McGregor and Ronaldo are no strangers to each other, with the football icon falling on one of the the Irishman‘s training sessions for his 2016 rematch with Nate Diaz.

The couple, aged 35 and 39 respectively, were seated following last December during the spectacular Day of Reckoning boxing event in Saudi Arabia.

CONOR MCGREGOR has been forced out of his long-awaited return to the UFC due to injury – but a new date for his return is already in the works.

The Irishman was injured just days before he left for Las Vegas for his UFC 303 clash with Michael Chandler and he was forced to pull out of a fight for the first time in his career.

But the former two-weight champion won’t be out of action for too long and UFC executives are already considering new dates for his return.

Two dates are currently in play for the long-awaited return of the Mac.

SunSport understands the dates of August 31 and September 14 are currently being explored for the fan favorite’s return.

A September return is more likely, as the UFC already has a pay-per-view card planned for the all-new Sin City Sphere.

But executives could decide to hold a second PPV event in August to ensure McGregor’s return takes place this summer.

McGregor, 35, has not set foot in the octagon since breaking his left leg during his trilogy fight with Dustin Poirier in July 2021.

McGregor has yet to speak about the latest setback in his successful fighting career, although Chandler was quick to issue a statement after their showdown in the desert was postponed.

He wrote on Instagram: “Conor McGregor has never been a safe bet as an opponent, he has always been the most at risk.

“Perhaps the highest reward… but the greatest opportunity.

“There is no right or wrong in business…you only take risks to grow or stay comfortable where you are.

“Embrace uncertainty. Seek opportunity. Take calculated risks.

“That’s what Michael Chandler does.

“And if it doesn’t go as planned… redirect the course to something even more awesome.”
