Vinyl turntable concepts inspired by flying saucers: Oscar Olsson

Industrial designer Oscar Olsson creates the unique Disco Volante turntable concept. It is intended to be wall mounted and features a flying saucer-inspired look. It is designed to answer the question: “If I were to build a turntable today, what would it look like?” »

The designer approached the idea by first dividing each component of a turntable into its own elements to create a more platform-like shape. Olsson explains: “The main driver of the design is the striking contrast between the organic, vivid tonearm housing and the rational, geometric metal frame. This separation makes the tonearm housing feel like a separate instrument playing the record.
