Aberdeen Highland Games canceled due to heavy rain overnight

The Highland Games in Aberdeen have been canceled this morning due to heavier than expected rain overnight.

The popular event was due to return to Hazlehead Park today (Sunday June 16) with around 10,000 spectators expected.

A highlight of the summer calendar; the games included a range of events from Pipe Band competitions to Tug o’ War to Highland Dancing and more.

Additionally, spectators can enjoy a range of stalls and entertainment provided by professional artists as well as local community groups.

However, overnight showers made the event site and parking lot unsafe for those who had planned to attend today’s event.

Those who purchased tickets will receive a refund within the next week.
