Doohan ‘readier than ever’ to answer Alpine’s F1 call

Alpine F1 reserve driver Jack Doohan feels “more ready than ever” to get behind the wheel with the French team in 2025.

Esteban Ocon’s confirmed departure from Alpine at the end of the season creates a vacancy, while Pierre Gasly is yet to be confirmed by the team, although all signs point to the former Grand Prix winner Price remains with the Enstone team.

Doohan slowly built his case for promotion, taking part in private tests with older Alpine machines while doing simulation work at Enstone and integrating with the team on race weekends.

In Montreal recently, he also took part in his first free practice session of the season, although the opportunity only offered limited laps in rainy conditions.

But these combined efforts have boosted the 21-year-old’s confidence and further whetted his determination to join the F1 grid.

“It’s obviously a great opportunity, it’s my dream to be in Formula 1 and I want to be on the grid next year,” Doohan said. SpeedCity Broadcast.

“If the opportunity presents itself here, it would be incredible. I’ve been building and growing with this team for three years now, so this would be a great transition.

“I’ve done a lot of testing with the 2021 and 2022 machines, so I feel more ready than ever, I felt extremely comfortable as well, so it will be a natural transition. But I’ll keep my head down, I’m here as a reserve pilot.

Doohan suggested he was not obsessing over his potential plans in F1, but rather keeping his head down and focusing on his tasks and development, day by day and session by session.
“I take it day by day and if everything lines up, great,” he said.

“But I’m just going to keep working and make sure I maximize my work on the track when I get the opportunity – hopefully more laps than!” – and off track, whether in the simulation or with the .

“In reality, we don’t even look too far into the future. There’s so much to decide and so much happening, as we all know, so we’re really, honestly taking it day by day and session by session.

“I think if things happen as soon as possible, everything will fall into place in due time.”
