Grieving daughter braves skydive for mother ‘failed by NHS’

A grieving daughter braved a skydive in memory of her mother who was ‘failed by the NHS’. “Kind and caring” Susan Forrester was just 61 when she died after an operation to remove a brain tumor at Royal Stoke last year.

The inquest into his death found that checks on anticoagulant treatment had not been carried out effectively. This resulted in excessive administration of anticoagulants over four hours, which resulted in a fatal hemorrhage to the brain.

The grandparent of three suffered from a previously undiagnosed cancer which would have limited her life expectancy had she recovered from brain tumor surgery.

Susan’s daughter Sarah Turner said: “I’m so lucky to have her in my life, but I just wish I had more time with her or even had the chance to say goodbye.

“Mom was an extraordinary woman. She was so kind and caring, putting everyone before herself. Even when she was so bad, she never moaned or let herself stop. She was so brave and strong that she left a huge hole in my heart and in the hearts of everyone who knew her. She was a wonderful mom, nanny, wife and sister and we were all so lucky to have her in our lives.

“I didn’t cope very well with my mother’s death. It was really hard. It wasn’t just the death, it was the whole hospital thing. We didn’t get closure.
