Suspect arrested after ramming ambulance into Goldsboro police cruiser

GOLDSBORO, N.C. (WNCN) — A Goldsboro police car was struck by a stolen ambulance Friday evening, according to the Goldsboro Police Department.

Friday at 8:05 p.m., officers were dispatched to the UNC Health Wayne area regarding a stolen ambulance. Police said they found the stolen ambulance a short time later in the area of ​​Wayne Memorial Drive and New Hope Road.

The suspect drove the ambulance back into the front parking lot of UNC Health Wayne where he intentionally struck an occupied Goldsboro Police Department patrol vehicle, officials said.

Raul Sandoval-Moore, 23, stopped the ambulance and was taken into custody without incident.

He was arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill. Sandoval-Moore was also cited for careless and reckless driving, driving while license revoked, speeding and failure to maintain lane control.
