Sam Amadi explains why Tinubu’s government is ‘failing’: ‘Stop recycling outdated politicians’

FCT, Abuja – In a bold statement, the Director of the Abuja School of Social and Political Thought, Dr. Sam Amadi, has urged President Bola Tinubu to overhaul his administration by removing outdated loyalists and appointing new competent leaders.

The political analyst, who spoke exclusively with Legitime.ng On Saturday, June 14, he stressed that the president must start taking governance seriously because the country is in a dire situation.

He said:

“My advice to the president is that he should radically rethink and restructure his government starting at the highest office.

“He needs to fire at least half the ministers, he needs to fire a lot of people back into the villa and bring in people who aren’t necessarily loyalists, people who didn’t work with him during his time as governor.”

Retrain obsolete leaders

Amadi criticized the president for relying on former associates from his gubernatorial tenure, arguing that they are out of touch with the current realities of federal governance.

His words:

“The recycling of those who worked with him as governor, who had lost touch with reality, who did not move from state to federal status and who did not manage the federal government, is which will build up to failure.

“We saw some form of failure with Osinbajo when he brought the people of Lagos and he could not deal with the complexities of the federal government.”

Tinubu urged to put in place governance just before 2027

Amadi highlighted the personnel issue as a significant obstacle to effective governance and stressed the need for new perspectives and skills.

He said:

“I think the personnel problem is huge. If Tinubu is doing well in governance, he campaigned for the 2027 elections.

“But currently, Tinubu as a political strategist is eclipsing him as an administrator, and he must first reaffirm and rebalance that, putting more administration before politics.”

In another report, President Bola Tinubu hinted at why his administration was taking Nigeria’s 36 governors to court, while lamenting the neglect of local government areas.

On Thursday, May 30, the President called on state governments to prioritize the needs of local communities by ensuring accountability and efficiency in municipal administration.

The President highlighted the apparent lack of attention to the grassroots, where he observed the votes were coming from, and charged his guests to approach the governors charged with administering the country’s local government, to show sympathy and respond urgently to the needs of the local population.
