Football: Receivers Room – Addicted To Quack

It’s no secret that the Oregon Ducks have plenty of room to move into the 2024 season. But the flip side is who these quarterbacks are going to target on the field.

Oregon’s most productive receiver the last two years, Troy Franklin, is headed to Denver to continue catching passes from Bo Nix. However, there are still many expanded projects that can have a big impact for Oregon.

First and foremost is senior Tez Johnson, who set OU’s single-season receptions record in 2023 with 86. Johnson also had 1,182 receiving yards with 10 touchdowns and finished the season in a flash glory with 172 yards in the Fiesta Bowl.

Oregon also returns Traeshon Holden, who played in all 14 games last season while compiling 452 receiving yards with six touchdowns. Holden was a constant target, totaling at least one reception in 13 of 14 games played.

On the transfer side, Oregon will get some help from former Texas A&M player Evan Stewart, who committed to Oregon in January. Stewart had 38 receptions for 514 yards and four touchdowns for the Aggies in 2023, averaging 13.5 yards per catch.

In typical Dan Lanning fashion, Oregon also made a splash on the recruiting trail, grabbing four-star wide receiver Jeremiah McClellan from St. Louis, who is a Top 100 prep player nationally. McClellan was a first-team All-State selection after catching 41 passes for 989 yards and nine touchdowns in 2023.

Alongside him in Eugene’s flock are fellow four-star receivers Ryan Pellum and Dillon Gresham. Pellum has caught 66 passes for 991 yards and 11 touchdowns in 2023 and Gresham has compiled 49 receptions for 819 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Suffice it to say, there will be a good number of suitable weapons for likely starter Dillon Gabriel to target in 2024.
