The very different messages from Joe Biden and Donald Trump for Father’s Day

The very different messages from Joe Biden and Donald Trump for Father’s Day

President Joe Biden and his political rival, former President Donald Trump, the presumptive 2024 GOP presidential nominee, celebrated Father’s Day in two very different social media posts on Sunday.

“Happy Father’s Day to all the dads, pops and father figures who have shown us advice, encouragement and unconditional love,” Biden wrote on X, formerly Twitter, on Sunday morning.

Biden fathered four children, three with his first wife, Neilia Hunter Biden, and one with his second, first lady Jill Biden. His eldest daughter and third child, Naomi, died in a car accident when she was 1 year old with her mother Neilia in 1972. More than four decades later, Biden lost his firstborn, Joseph, aged 46 years old, whose name was Beau. , to brain cancer in May 2015. Biden’s two surviving children are Hunter, 54, from his first marriage, and Ashley, 43, from his second.

Hunter Biden has been thrust into the spotlight since House Republicans began investigating the Biden family more than a year ago in an effort to impeach President Biden. Republican lawmakers say Biden was involved in and benefited from his son’s foreign business dealings. There is no concrete evidence to support these claims, claims the White House denies, and Biden has rebuked the investigation as a “baseless political stunt.”

Last week, a Delaware jury found Hunter Biden guilty of three counts of lying about his drug use on a federal background check form when he purchased a handgun in October 2018 and for possession of the gun while he was addicted to or using illegal drugs.

“Jill and I love our son and are very proud of the man he is today,” President Biden said in reaction to the verdict. “So many families with loved ones battling addiction understand the feeling of pride in seeing someone you love come out the other side and be so strong and resilient in their recovery. As I also said last week “I will accept the outcome of this case and continue to respect the legal process while Hunter considers an appeal.”

Trump’s message to “radical left degenerates”

Trump’s Father’s Day message stood in stark contrast to Biden’s, which he used as an opportunity to lash out at his political rivals.

In all caps, Trump wrote Sunday afternoon on his social media platform Truth Social: “Happy Father’s Day to everyone, including the radical left degenerates who are rapidly taking the United States of America to third party nation status.” world with their many attempts to try to influence our sacred justice system to break its very sick and dangerous will. We need strength and loyalty to our country, and this wonderful constitution will be on full display on November 5, 2024 – the most important day in history. of our country. Make America great again!!!”

News week contacted Trump campaign spokesperson Steven Cheung and Biden campaign spokesperson James Singer via email for comment.

Trump was convicted last month of 34 counts of falsifying business records to hide money paid to adult film actress Stormy Daniels shortly before the 2016 presidential election. Daniels alleged that she had a sexual relationship with Trump in 2006, which he denies. The former president has maintained his innocence and his legal team intends to appeal the verdict.

The former president still faces three indictments, two of which involve allegations of election interference and one in which Trump is accused of mishandling classified documents and obstructing government efforts to recover them . Trump has pleaded not guilty to the charges in all cases. He was also found liable in a New York civil fraud case and two defamation suits involving sexual abuse. He also maintains his innocence in these cases and has appealed.

Trump and his allies say the charges against him are part of a Democratic plot to interfere with the upcoming election in hopes of tipping the scales in Biden’s favor. There is no evidence to support these claims or that Biden had anything to do with the prosecution of Trump.

The former president has three children with his late first wife Ivana Trump: Donald Jr., 46, Ivanka, 42, and Eric, 40. He also has a 30-year-old daughter, Tiffany, from his second marriage to Marla Maples, and an 18-year-old son, Barron, with his current wife, former first lady Melania Trump.

In 2021, Trump sent a similar Father’s Day message to “the radical left.”

“Happy Father’s Day to everyone, including the Radical Left, RINOs (Republicans in Name Only), and other losers of the world. Let’s hope that one day, everyone will come together!” Trump wrote in an emailed statement to his supporters at the time.

Former Rep. Adam Kinzinger, an Illinois Republican and frequent Trump critic, shared Trump’s 2021 message on X on Sunday and wrote: “RINO. I feel included and noticed! Thank you! Let me refund , Happy Father’s Day, including the whiny, smelly little fat criminal former presidents!”
