15-year-old found dead in apparent Lowell homicide – NBC Boston

The investigation into the death of a 15-year-old Lowell girl, an apparent homicide, has shaken the community.

Authorities say a family member found the teen suffering from traumatic injuries in a Lowell apartment Friday, her 8th birthday.th graduation.

The Essex County Prosecutor said police found her with multiple gunshot wounds on Lawrence Street when they received the 911 call around 6 p.m. Several shell casings were also found in the area, according to authorities.

Later that night, investigators began searching the apartment. A couple who live in the area saw the police presence and heard the teenager’s father shouting: “Someone killed my daughter.”

The couple said they thought they had met the teen before and didn’t understand why someone would shoot an innocent girl.

“I think she petted my dog ​​a few times because I walk three miles a day and she was sitting there with her family,” the woman told NBC10 Boston.

A man who has lived in the area for more than 50 years said he was stunned to hear the news. He also said police were present in the area Thursday evening. His son told him he thought he heard gunshots.

He said, “I think I just heard gunshots.” And I said, ‘No, not around here.’ That doesn’t happen here. And he said, ‘No, it was pop pop pop pop,’ and I said, ‘I don’t think so,'” the man said. “And then maybe about 10 minutes later, someone else must have called because I didn’t.” I don’t think it was gunshots.

It should be noted that the son heard this noise on Thursday evening and the victim’s body was not found until Friday evening. We don’t really know if the situations are related.

“Worried. Difficult night’s sleep, I empathize with people. Parents must be devastated,” one woman said. “I have no words except for her family. What her parents must be going through. I just don’t have no words. she added.

The case is being investigated as an apparent homicide by the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, Lowell Police and the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit. Neighbors told NBC10 Boston they don’t think they’re in any danger.
