Vehicle fires: 2 drivers caught inside burning vehicles, 1 death |  Chandigarh News

Bathinda: Severe heatwave sparked two vehicle fires in Punjab in less than two hours on Sunday, burning a man inside a moving car in Barnala and setting ablaze a moving tanker in Longowal, while its driver jumped out in time. fire on the Moga bypass in Barnala, leaving no time for the driver, Harcharan Singh (32) of Draj village of Barnala district, to escape. He had come to Barnala after serving in a village dera. Firefighters who arrived at the spot shifted the body to Barnala Civil Hospital. Police said while they will investigate the cause of the fire, it appears to be the heat wave for now. In the other incident, the tanker had stopped at the Krishna Petro Center petrol pump in Longowal to unload fuel when the cabin of the truck caught fire and the driver had to jump out. Staff at the petrol pump across the street extinguished the fire before it reached the fuel dump located near two other petrol stations.
