3 Free Agents Sleeper Targets Milwaukee Bucks Should Consider Signing

The Milwaukee Bucks are one of the most cash-strapped teams in the NBA, so they will need to be very creative in revamping the roster to return to the expected level of competition.

THE 2024 free agency class is a little weak. However, there may be a few names that the Bucks could target on a minimum contract that possess skills that could be valuable to the team. With that said, let’s break down three under-the-radar targets.

When Mo Bamba was with the Orlando Magic, he seemed good enough to be a future NBA star. He played the first four years of his career with the Magic before being traded to the Los Angeles Lakers before the trade deadline in his fifth season. The trade was a four-team trade involving both Los Angeles teams as well as the Denver Nuggets.

Bamba ended up in purple and gold and played just 9.8 minutes per game in nine total games for the Lakers and barely saw the court in the playoffs. After the 2022-23 season, the Lakers waived Bamba and he signed a one-year minimum contract with the Philadelphia 76ers for the 2023-24 season.

Bamba played 13 minutes per game for the 76ers last season, so why should someone who has seen his role diminish over the past two seasons be of interest to the Milwaukee Bucks?

The short answer is that he would be a great replacement for Brook Lopez.

The longer answer is that in addition to being a good replacement for Lopez, he could also be an insurance policy if Lopez’s age catches up to him, the injury bug bites him, or he is traded . What skills does Mo Bamba have that could suggest this?

First, Bamba is a career 36.1 percent 3-point shooter. Second, he averages 1.3 blocks per game (in the limited minutes mentioned earlier). It should also be noted that its career defensive rating is 107.3, according to StatMuse. Essentially, Bamba would bring a similar skill set to Lopez as a shooting threat, big man on the floor, and shot blocker.
