Shasta County Authorities recently arrested a Sacramento man for allegedly transporting narcotics for sale.

According to a news release from the Shasta Interagency Narcotics Task Force, deputies attempted a traffic stop for a vehicle violation on northbound I-5 on the afternoon of Thursday, June 13.

The driver, later identified as Edgar Ivan Mares, 31, allegedly refused to yield the right of way to the sheriff’s office patrol vehicle and continued for approximately two miles at a low speed.

The mares finally stopped in the parking lot of the Anderson Factory Outlets.

During the stop, deputies used Deputy K-9 Ace to search the vehicle. The K-9 reportedly alerted to the presence of narcotics and officers discovered just over two pounds of suspected methamphetamine in the vehicle.

The county’s Interagency Narcotics Task Force responded to the scene to take over the investigation.

Authorities arrested Morales for alleged possession and transportation of narcotics for sale and misdemeanor eluding.

Mares was booked into the Shasta County Jail on $100,000 bail, authorities said.
