GO electronic stop begins services in Kurintar

Nepal’s road transport landscape was transformed with the opening of the GO e-stop at Kurintar on Saturday. This is the second addition to Nepal’s network of sustainable rest areas. Participants at the event described the inauguration of the facility as an important milestone in Nepal’s journey towards sustainable transportation.

The e-stop offers the largest private electric vehicle charging station in the country, organizers said. The first electronic stop has been operational at Ramtar, Mulkot, for the past one year.

The launch event held at Kurintar was attended by Kulman Ghising, Managing Director of the Nepal Electricity Authority, among other dignitaries including industry leaders, foreign partners and sustainability advocates. Ghising’s presence highlighted the strategic importance of the initiative in promoting the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) and supporting Nepal’s commitment to achieving net zero carbon emissions, organizers said.

In his inaugural address, Ghising highlighted the role of GO GO emergency stop in promoting sustainable infrastructure in Nepal’s transport sector. “Creating the GO Emergency Stop is an important step toward a greener, more sustainable future. By promoting the use of electric vehicles, we not only reduce our carbon footprint, but also pave the way to energy independence and cleaner air,” he said.

Kurintar’s GO e-Stop offers a range of services tailored to the needs of modern travelers. Its charging stations for electric vehicles guarantee the proper maintenance of electric vehicles. The property also has a restaurant serving meals and accessible public restrooms, all designed to enhance the comfort and convenience of travelers.

Rajan Rayamajhi, Chairman, GO Group of Companies, expressed his gratitude to the guests and partners who made the project possible. “Today marks the start of a new era in road transport in Nepal. The GO e-Stop is more than just a pit stop; it’s a vision realized. We are committed to setting a new standard in travel convenience while actively contributing to the reduction of carbon emissions.

During the event, participants also discussed the future of sustainable travel in Nepal. With the successful launch of the Kurintar facility, the e-stop thee GO is set to expand its network across Nepal, further strengthening its mission of providing comprehensive and eco-friendly travel solutions , declared the organizers.
