Hidetaka Miyazaki highlights the benefit of a cooperative mode in Elden Ring but does not deny that FromSoftware could consider adding “full cooperation” like a fan mod.

FromSoftware games don’t really allow for online fun with mods. However, the developers of Ancient Ring not only refrain from condemning the Seamless cooperative mod, but they actually see it as a potential source of inspiration for their future projects.

This was assured by Hidetaka Miyazaki himself, who gave an interview to Wes Fenlon of PC Gamer. In the following article on this discussion, the Japanese pointed out that the type of collaboration found in Ancient Ring (as well as in the studio’s previous works) was designed to provide a relaxed, “casual” cooperative experience, allowing players to quickly join the game, complete a task (like defeating a boss), and continue.

However, Miyazaki added that this does not mean that FromSoftware is opposed to playing the game together in “full co-op” mode (i.e. from start to finish). Perhaps such an option will be included in one of the Japanese team’s future projects.

That’s not to say we won’t consider other ways to play, just like you and your friend, from start to finish, in full cooperation. This doesn’t mean we won’t consider such ideas in our future games.

Still, many fans would probably prefer such an option to be officially available in the game. It probably won’t appear in Ancient Ring more, but Miyazaki’s comments indicate that there is a chance to add a similar feature in future games from the FromSoftware studio.
