Haris Rauf breaks silence after video of altercation with fan goes viral: ‘Won’t hesitate to respond when it comes to parents and family’ | Cricket News

After a video of him involved in a heated argument with a fan went viral on social media, Pakistani pacer Haris Rauf released a statement to X over the incident.

“I decided not to talk about this on social media, but now that the video is out, I think it is necessary to address the situation,” Rauf wrote.

“As public figures, we are open to receiving all kinds of comments from the public. They have the right to support us or criticize us. However, when it comes to my parents and family, I will not hesitate to react accordingly. “It is important to show respect to people and their families, regardless of their profession,” he added.

In the now-viral clip, Rauf is seen walking alongside his wife as he comes across a group of people. If the words exchanged are not audible in the video, they cause the leader to lose his composure and rush towards one of the individuals.

Shaheen Shah Afridi also used her X account to support Rauf. “It’s absolutely shameful how Haris Rauf was treated. No one has the right to demean and disrespect others. I am also shocked by those who shared this video. Why prioritize a few likes over our humanity? Stay strong, Haris. We are united with you,” Afridi wrote.

Hasan Ali, who was not part of Pakistan’s T20 World Cup squad, also took to his social media, asking fans to be constructive in their criticism. “I saw a video circulating online of Harry (Haris Rauf) and I urge all my dearest cricket fans to remember that criticism can be constructive without being hurtful. Let’s keep the debate respectful and considerate of the players’ families. Let’s promote love, peace and respect for the GAME. We all want Pakistan cricket to grow,” Ali wrote.

Festive offer

Rauf, along with the Pakistan national team, have been under the scanner following an early exit from the 2024 T20 World Cup – following defeats to the United States and India in the group stage.

In his four matches at the World Cup, Rauf took seven wickets for Pakistan at an economy of 6.73 and was his team’s highest wicket-taker along with Mohammad Amir.
